How the term is used
Bleed air can support engine starting, air conditioning, pressurization, anti-icing and other functions depending on aircraft architecture. Valves, sensors, ducts and control logic regulate pressure, temperature and routing.
Where you may encounter it
Technicians encounter bleed-air faults in pneumatic, air-conditioning, anti-ice and engine-start systems.
Bleed air can be extremely hot and pressurized. Observe cooling, isolation and access precautions.
