SDI
SDI Abbreviation · Special Detailed Inspection Synonym
Special Detailed Inspection: an intensive examination using specialized techniques or equipment.
How the term is used
An SDI can include non-destructive testing methods such as eddy current, ultrasonic or radiographic inspection and usually requires qualified personnel and controlled procedures.
Where you may encounter it
Qualified inspectors perform and document the examination within their method and authorization scope.
A normal visual inspection cannot replace an SDI, and an NDT indication requires evaluation under the approved criteria.
