How the term is used
The IPC shows illustrated breakdowns, item numbers, part numbers, quantities, effectivity and interchangeability notes. It supports identification and ordering, but it is not normally the procedural source for maintenance accomplishment.
Where you may encounter it
Stores, planning, engineering and maintenance use the IPC to identify candidate parts before confirming installation eligibility.
A part shown in the IPC is not automatically serviceable, available or approved for every aircraft. Confirm effectivity and release documentation.
